FOR WHO IS RPK-B?
The RPK-B course Polymer Physics aims to acquaint PhD students, engineers, academic and industrial researchers, involved and/or interested in any aspect of polymer science, including chemistry, chemical and mechanical engineering, materials science, and fundamental and applied physics, with the fundamentals of polymer physics.
If you wish to attend this module, you are expected to have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics or a related subject. As pre-requisite, having passed basic (bachelor-level) courses in statistical thermodynamics, calculus, polymer chemistry and/or polymer physics at the academic level are strongly recommended.
If you have any questions about the starting level for the RPK module, please contact the senior lecturers

DURING THE COURSE
In this module we will discuss the fundamentals of polymer physics and we will highlight and advertise modern applications of polymer physics in soft matter, biophysics, responsive materials and so on. For this purpose, a series of modules focusing on different aspects of polymer physics is presented. At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to apply basic concepts and theories of polymer physics to practical polymer-related problems in a wide variety of fields.
Keywords: basic theories and concepts of polymer physics. Polymer solutions, melts and glasses, liquid crystal polymers, supramolecular polymers and networks, mechanical and rheological properties, characterisation methods.

AFTER THE COURSE
After completing this module, the students will be familiar with the basic concepts of polymer physics, they will recognize how these concepts can be used in practical situations, and they will be able to read and understand scientific literature in which these concepts are used. You will be able to understand and assimilate the modern literature on theoretical polymer physics and apply this in the context of your research and development. Completing the module in itself is not sufficient to enable you to actively contribute to this field of study, unless you have the appropriate academic qualifications and/or experience, e.g., in physical chemistry, theoretical physics or nanoscience.  What it does do is increase your expertise and opportunity of active participation in the wider field of polymer science, familiarise yourself with the jargon, methods and crucial concepts.
